Zeffy makes money exclusively from optional tips from your donors
Will I ever have to pay to use Zeffy?
No you won’t! Zeffy is completely free for nonprofits - no platform fees, no credit card fees, no fees period! We've never charged a single cent to nonprofits and we never will. 100% of all payments you receive through Zeffy go directly to your nonprofit.
How does Zeffy make money?
Zeffy relies entirely on optional tips from your donors. When making a payment on a Zeffy form, your donors can choose to contribute to Zeffy or not. On average, 2 out of 3 donors leave us a tip. This is enough to cover all our costs and re-invest in the development of Zeffy. Zeffy has been working with nonprofits for 7 years and, thanks to this 100% free model, currently supports 100,000 organizations globally.
What if my donors don’t leave a tip?
Donors are never forced to tip Zeffy. They can leave an optional tip if they want to support Zeffy. If they don't, the nonprofit still keeps 100% of the money raised.
Why would donors tip Zeffy?
Donors love that 100% of their donations go directly to the nonprofit they support. That's why so many of them leave us a tip.
Zeffy has been supporting nonprofits for the last 7 years. Providing 100% free and user friendly fundraising tools.
“We were incurring a ton of fees for our past fundraising platform and Zeffy has helped us receive so much more of our donations.”

We couldn't believe there was a free payment platform for our Girl Scout group. Zeffy took ZERO fees from us, which is huge when you run on very small amounts of money.

Frequently asked questions
What fundraising tools does Zeffy include?
Zeffy is an all-in-one fundraising platform. It includes donation forms, event ticketing, memberships, raffles, auctions, an online store, peer-to-peer campaigns, in-person payments with Tap to Pay, email and newsletters, and a full donor CRM. Every tool is included free, with no tiers and no add-ons.
What does all-in-one actually mean for our nonprofit?
All-in-one means every part of your fundraising runs from the same place, and every supporter shows up as a single record in a full donor CRM that is included, not sold as an add-on. A donor who buys a gala ticket, renews their membership, and gives at year end is one profile with three gifts attached, not three separate exports you stitch together. You do not add a tool or a subscription every time you launch a new kind of campaign, and there is nothing to reconcile between systems at month end. It also goes further than most nonprofits expect. Zeffy includes a free point of sale that turns your own phone into a card reader, with no dongle or terminal, and a free Grant Finder with thousands of grants and no account required.
Can Zeffy replace the other tools we pay for, and does it connect to the ones we keep?
Most nonprofits arrive with a paid email tool, a separate ticketing platform, a donor spreadsheet, and a payment processor dashboard. Zeffy covers all of that at zero cost. That means one less monthly bill for email, no percentage taken out of transactions, no manual copy-paste from a spreadsheet into a mail merge, and no reconciling three dashboards at the end of the month. For the tools you keep, the native QuickBooks integration syncs every payout by campaign and fund in under five minutes, with no developer needed and no monthly fee. Zapier connects Zeffy to more than 1,000 other tools. And the free public API, gives your developer read-only access to your payments, contacts, and campaigns.
Can Zeffy be our nonprofit CRM and donor database?
Yes. Zeffy holds one record per supporter with their giving history, event attendance, memberships, store purchases, email engagement, notes, and tags. You can filter and tag to segment your supporters, save the result as a custom list, and email that list from Zeffy without exporting anything. You can import your existing contacts and history from a spreadsheet or another tool's export, and there is no per-contact pricing as your database grows. This is your CRM and donor database, not just where donations land. Take a closer look at Zeffy’s CRM.
How does Zeffy work?
You create a free account, build a donation form, event, or campaign, and share the link. Donors give by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, and the money goes to your bank account, usually within a few business days. Zeffy covers every transaction and credit card fee, so you receive 100% of what you raise.
Is Zeffy really free?
Yes, and it is worth being specific about what that covers. No platform fee. No transaction fee. No credit card fee. No monthly subscription. No setup cost. And no charge for the donor CRM, however large your contact list gets. Your nonprofit keeps 100% of every donation. Zeffy is funded by a voluntary contribution a donor can choose to add for us at checkout, which is never required and never taken from your donation. See exactly how the model works.
Does free mean fewer features?
No. Zeffy is not a stripped-down free tier with the useful parts locked behind an upgrade. It is the full all-in-one platform, from donation forms and event ticketing to memberships, auctions, peer-to-peer campaigns, an online store, email, and a full donor CRM, all included at $0. There is no plan to outgrow, no card on file, and no feature gates at any size. Free describes the price, not the capability.
Is Zeffy only for small nonprofits?
Zeffy is a great fit for small nonprofits, and that is exactly why the question comes up. It is free, and there is no onboarding project, no implementation fee, and no sales call, so volunteer-led teams get going fastest and talk about it most. It is just as good a fit for established organizations, because there is no compromise on features: the same complete platform, the same donor CRM, no feature gates, no contact tiers, and nothing to upgrade to. Ease of adoption is why small teams find us first. It is not a ceiling.
